Best Tales on the Tracks - Mk.II

Following the announcement of 6 US DVD's to be released as a boxset, Lionsgate are to do the same to six more for the US.

This collection will contain the DVD's, Best of Percy, Best of Gordon, Best of James, Best of Thomas, 10 Years of Thomas & Friends and Thomas and the Treasure.

The first version revealed a month ago seems to have only been found on ebay and amazon.com, while this was on videoeta. It is not known if this is meant to be the second version or a take over for the first. I think it is the second version as the first was revealed on amazon.com for a release of October 19th.
 

Best Tales on the Tracks hits US DVD shelves on October 26th 2010 at a price of $29.98.

Larger cover art for Halloween double

Lionsgate Publicity have published a larger version of the cover art for the re-releases of Thomas' Halloween Adventures/Percy's Ghostly Trick as a double feature in the US.

Alligator extends 'Thomas & Friends' licence

Alligator Books have renewed it's UK licensing deal with Hit Entertainment.

The firm has held the Thomas & Friends licence for nine years and the renewal will see the partnership's deal to be extended until June 2012. Alligator will continue to produce it's line of activity-based formats including magnets, sticker, A5 3D stickers and activity carry packs.

Publishing and Sales Director of Alligator Books, Andrew H. Rabin said, Thomas & Friends is a true evergreen property and has always performed consistently well for us. We are extremely pleased to be renewing this license with HIT Entertainment and looking forward to continuing our partnership with them for what we are confident will be another successful two years.

MIR Aussie DVD/Blu-Ray covers

Ezydvd have published the covers for the DVD/Blu-Ray versions of the Misty Island Rescue release.

The DVD cover looks basic but the Blu-Ray one has some differences. The tagline, The Movie is added underneath the logo, Harold and Captain have been cut from the cover and a few of the clouds at the top have been poorly edited. The Blu-Ray version is confirmed to feature 1080p HD Widescreen.

'Rettungseinsatz Nebeinsel' hits Germany

German Thomas fans will be able to see the new Misty Island Rescue special, which the title has been translated to, Rettungseinsatz Nebeinsel.

The news was confirmed by the official German Thomas the Tank Engine website. A premiere will also be set up in the capital with a special appearance by the Dickë Controller (The Fat Controller).

Rettungseinsatz Nebeinsel hits German various cinemas on September 11th 2010.

Toronto4Kids' MIR premiere competition

Toronto4Kids are also getting in the mood for Thomas' 65th anniversary, by presenting a competition to win tickets to the Misty Island Rescue premiere in Thornhill.

The prize is tickets to the premiere for a family of 4 which will start on Saturday 11th September 2010 at 11:30am on the Rainbow Promenade in Thornhill. The competition closes on August 31st 2010.

S14 confirmed for 'Merry Winter Wish'

My prediction was right! Merry Winter Wish, the upcoming US DVD will feature four Season Fourteen episodes, exclusively.

Andrea Blain Public Relations, Inc. published a press release on the DVD which revealed more on the DVD description and on the episodes featured. Also confirmed is the return of Driver Perkins for more scenes in between the episodes, while Bash, Dash and Ferdinand will recieve their own episode. 

One of the rare occasions when the core 8 characters of the Steam Team pass off an episode or two, giving other characters such as Rosie, Freddie, Madge and Hiro, the limelight.

Episodes and Descriptions on them include:

- Thomas' Merry Winter Wish - Thomas has a special delivery for the season - the Star of Knapford, a festive light that makes wishes come true!

- Thomas and the Snowman Party - The children are excited for the Snowman Party in the Town Square but it’s up to Thomas to find the snowman a special hat before the party can begin.

- Merry Misty Island - Bash, Dash and Ferdinand prepare for the first ever Misty Island Christmas party.

- Henry's Magic Box - Henry helps Sir Topham Hatt prepare a secret holiday surprise for all of Sodor.

Let's just hope that there is less of Thomas, hopefully in the third episode!

Merry Winter Wish hits US DVD shelves on October 12th 2010. 

S13 premiering on OPB TV

Oregon Public Broadcasting will begin airing Season Thirteen episodes every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from September.

Each slot runs at 28 minutes, possibly bringing the return of the 30 minute shows, although it is not known if new interactive interstitals will be featured. Starting off the season is Creaky Cranky under the theme of Friends and Family, although each description on the slot reveals one episode, I think there will be two each slot.

Season Thirteen premiere's on OPB TV starting from September 7th 2010 at 2:30pm, with episodes airing on Tuesday's, Thursday's and Sunday's.

MIR on Blu-Ray for Aussies

Fans Down Under will be able to get their hands on Misty Island Rescue, on Blu-Ray/DVD.

Not much info has been revealed, although it is likely to be the same packaging and design as the US bundle pack has. Also, MIR will also be released as a double pack with the previous special, Hero of the Rails on DVD.
