First look at the new Thomas theatrical film

Hit Entertainment has announced more new details for the forthcoming Thomas & Friends theatrical film.

Director of animated film 9, Shane Acker will direct the highly anticipated film with Julia Pistor serving as Producer while the previously mentioned Shrek writer Josh Klausner, Chris Viscardo and Will McRobb have written a script.
Weta Workshop and toy company Mattel's design them will provide the duties for the film's creative team. The film's finance and distribution have been sold to Cinetic Media and the UTA Independent Film Group.

Speaking to Deadline of the announcement, Shane Acker promised that he won't ruin the film's expectations.

I'm a recent father, with a 20-month old daughter, we lead such busy lives in Hollywood, always running and hustling, but children tend to slow you down a bit and reconnect you with that inner world.
It reinvents your imagination, seeing things through a child's eyes It was transformative for me and that is what inspired me about the possibilities here.

Acker then went to tell of the film's plot; The tale will revolve around a pre-teen boy who has drifted apart from his father. The son is introduced into this world of Sodor, a place his father visited as a child but can't remember. There is a bonding experience.

Producer Julia Pistor has praised Acker's involvement; Shane is a visionary director whose talent for creating new worlds knows no bounds.
He is the perfect creative partner to bring a unique interpretation of the Island of Sodor and Thomas to the big screen. The look and feel of the world and characters will be an entirely new experience.

The Thomas the Tank Engine theatrical film is currently slated for a release date in 2014.

I doubt it, TATMRR is such a flop and this is set in the 1940's where the MRR is set possibly in the 21st century, hence the modern look in the real world.

My reaction to this movie is very exciting, the engines might look good in their realistic look from the Railway Series.

  5. OK for those people who predicting that BoCo and all the others in this movie, I can guarantee that they won't come back. Engines like Fergus, Arthur, Hector, Harvey, Murdoch, Norman, Billy and Neville, were created for the TV series. This movie is set during the time of the Railway Series, they were never ever introduced in the books ever. BoCo is an RS character, but since that he's a nice diesel and that this is a steam engines vs. diesel war plot, I believe that BoCo will not be in it.

Let me make this clear, this movie is focusing on the Railway Series all the characters like Lady and all are TV characters. If you don't know what the RS is, look it up. The TV characters are not on the books.
