2011 movie set in WW2!?

The Bitter Script Reader blog recently interviewed Shrek writer Josh Klausner, who revealed a small but startling description to the upcoming Thomas 2011 movie.

Klausner was told if he wanted to write another horror film, leading him to briefly talk about Thomas with this only line; I just finished a live action version of Thomas the Tank Engine set in England during World War 2. Now this is beyond description!
I'm sure that most of us agree that this is a turn of events in the upcoming new stories of Thomas. Things are taking a sinister turn, as it started a few weeks ago when an unexpected ending from the newest special Misty Island Rescue, teased US fans in screenings, with a familar character coming back to the fold of Thomas & Friends. For more information, check my post a few pages down, or click here.

I had the sudden thought that in a way, this revelation could be in the direction that the lost Director's Cut version of Thomas and the Magic Railroad took. Maybe it is Thomas' early days on Sodor or another island, the script might change, we will just have to wait and see, in late 2011....

  3. I think it's ment to be a precale to both the railway series and the tv series, since it's set during WW2, or maybe being the resion why Thomas wasn't in the first book, but Diesel 10 can't be in it, he wasn't built then, but I feel it will be the first thing in a long time, aimed at just the older Thomas fans.

  4. I seriously doubt that P.T Boomer will be in this.

  5. I hope that it has nothing to do with TATMR personally, but it would be cool if they showed the main cast of Thomas and Friends before Sodor, working for the war effort. I doubt it though, Klausner was probably throwing us off by saying that. He probably just meant that Thomas is from that era, or Thomas was created in that era, or perhaps this is one big wacky fantasy movie on how Thomas came into being... Man, I sure hope that it is aimed at the older fans with some serious historical relevance...

  7. maybe the movie is about thomas going back to seeing how he became so great,or he meets the rev.w awdry. or maybe thomas does back to save engines tht are in the war and brings them back to sodor. just throwing out some ideas on how WWII is now part of thomas. hit entainment appoved violence for a thomas movie!

  15. I WANNA SEE SOME EMOTIONAL PARTS TO THIS! THE SHOW IS ALWAYS TOO HAPPY!i think it would be cool if there was a scene that the diesels tried to put the steamies into an incinerator and they think its the end but they are all saved

  16. Y'all, there is no way Thomas could be in WWII because according to REV.W.AWDRY, who should know since he created Thomas, our tank engine friend arrived on the NWR in 1915, the middle of WWI. I don't think Fat Hat sent him back to Germany.

  17. Thomas the tank engine did originate from the WWII era, but I don't think they should do a Thomas and his friends WWII movie. It would be (maybe not too) violent for little kids and it would defeat the purpose of the series being a child like, fantasized world. I'm sure someone just started making up this bs.

  18. Probably It wont show people dying and that kind of stuff. It Probably Just has the engines
working for the war effort and that stuff,But not like blood and Bullets

  19. I just hope the trailer, or at least some images and posters, come out sometime soon.

  20. Will the "Thomas And The Magic Railroad" Director's Cut EVER be released to the public!?

  21. You said it!I like the Directors cut,but it would be so cool if they released the original TATMR.I hope they don't do the same to the WWII film.

  22. Remember, this is about the WWII movie.Who started the talk about TATMR anyway?By the way,I can't wait for the movie to come out.

  23. This movie might be about when the engines were built and were young at the time like when Rosie was built in 1942 and sent to Sodor in 1945.

  24. It would be nice if Rosie was in the movie, but I doubt it, since if the movie was about Thomas, it would focus on him and his friends on Sodor or somewhere. Rosie would be built in the United States, and if the movie takes place before 1941, It's not possible that Rosie would be in it. Even if it takes place after 1941 the only chance Rosie has to be in the movie is if it is in or ends at 1945 onward, when Rosie arrives on Sodor. Though I hope to see her in it.
