Concluding the premiere set of new episodes brang the winter themed storyline that be, Ho Ho Snowman.
The story set in the snowy winter saw Charlie pretending to be a snowman which confused Henry, leading to him being afraid that the snowman was real when telling jokes to him.
Giving chances to speak saw the two engines, Thomas, Emily and Edward taking part in the roles. Sighted in shots were Rosie, Hiro, Gordon and Percy. The Troublesome Trucks made a highly publicised return to the series.
The episode drew in mostly poor reviews from fans annoyed of Charlie's personality getting to shine in his own story with his many jokes also criticised for being dumbed down to young viewers.
Henry's character became an upset where he was considered going back to his negative standards just like in shows such as Henry's Magic Box and others.
Other bad points saw Sharon Miller's writing structure making another recurrence, Charlie wasting valued time doing work and Gordon's Hill's shunting scene at the start, known as a danger if engines came along the line.
Very few positives drew out from the story being Nitrogen Studio's atmospheric snow animation and The Troublesome Trucks coming back after a lenghtly break since Season Thirteen's Splish Splash Splosh.
TheTopHatts gives Ho Ho Snowman...
2/10

Like most fans, I didn't like it. I did like the fact that Charlie shares a main role with Henry and seeing the trucks with faces again, but it was so repetitive. Not as bad a Ol' Wheezy Wobbles in my opinion though. I'd probably give this a 2.5/ 10 or maybe even a 3. Haven't made up my mind yet :P
ReplyDeleteI thought Charlie's jokes were funny: "Ice Burgers" was a good one! Once again it's a pre school show so it has to be easy for them to understand and repeating things appeals to them. Rev Awdry kept on using the same old storylines again and again! race, crash etc. These epsiodes have more imagination and more original as they are not bogged down in "railway practice" which no modern parent understand or cares about anymore!
ReplyDeleteIf repeating the same storyline over and over again for the last 3 years (and about 80 episodes) is considered "original" by some people, then I don't want to live on this planet anymore...
DeleteIt was flat out terrible! Only positve was the troublesome trucks 1/10
ReplyDeleteSo hold on. A group of fans are criticizing a show aimed at children for having a character say jokes aimed at children? By the gods.
ReplyDeleteMost may disagree, but I think this episode features some of Charlie's better jokes.
ReplyDeleteI liked how the troublesome trucks have faces, and personalities again.
But why the heck were there trucks scattered on Gordon's Hill?
I'd say this episode was 5/10.
It was bad and I mean it, the jokes are funny, the trucks were seeing be shunted at Gordon's Hill and Henry acts like a wimp since 'Henry's Magic Box'. But on a positive not Charlie's snowman voice gave me a laugh and the trucks did come back with their faces. But it still wasn't a perfect episode in my opinion. I gave it a 1/5
ReplyDelete*The jokes are not funny
Delete**On a positive note
DeleteI thought this episode was sort of good, I said in past Charlie never does any work, but you can see he does in this episode and love how trucks spoke again and got faces back and Charlie getting a main role. But Henry could easily have seen Charlie 4:09 and why are they shunting at bottom of Gordon's Hill? 93DOL youtube
