Final episode of Nitrogen Studios' Thomas identified

The final episode of the Sixteenth Series of Thomas & Friends has been named by ABC's online schedule for Australian television.

The twentieth show of the series is called Happy Birthday Sir! due for a March 6th transmission, with digiguide due to reveal the synopsis to it and also to the rest of the fourth week's stories in the UK.

The episode will mark the depature of Sharon Miller's head writing tenure to the show but will return for one last stint, albeit in creating the Blue Mountain Mystery's feature-length script.

Appreciated by fans for their faithful animated work, Nitrogen Studios will follow in Miller's footsteps at the same time as their contract was not renewed by Hit Entertainment last month.

A Seventeenth Series has been commissioned which is to bring changes to the long running show starting from 2013. Andrew Brenner replaces Sharon Miller as Head Writer whilst Arc Productions take on duties for the visual animation.

Season Sixteen of Thomas & Friends continues its run in Australia on ABC2 on Wednesday February 21st 2012 at 2:55pm with the episode, Thomas and the Rubbish Train.

Channel 5 in the UK airs the next episode on their milkshake! slot on the same day at 7:35am with Express Coming Through.
