New Thomas & Friends owner, Mattel has at last finished it's pended acqusition for taking over Hit Entertainment.

The company are now allowed to proceed with various plans such as existing ones including the Take-n-Play Thomas toy lineup.
The latter and other franchises of Thomas merchandising are now commited until at least 2014 in the deal.

CNBC reports that another development may take place; The acquisition will allow it to take over the wood license too, when it expires at the end of the year.

Thanks to SI3DFilms for the alert.

  1. To be honest, the only licences I care about are Hornby's and Bachmann's. It'd be a travesty if they weren't renewed. They both make fantastic models that fans of all ages love.

  2. I do not adjust to change very well, and it looks like a lot will change for Thomas merchandise. But like ThomasPercyandToby, I hope Bachmann's license will be renewed, since I collect their products, and don't do a lot with the others forms of Thomas merchandise.

  3. Well at least Hornby and Bachmann will have another two years, but like the others users here, I really do hope Hornby and Bachmann have their licenses renewed they have done great models over the years and it'll be a shame if they don't.
