Final week of Miller manned series culminates in plots

The UK's digiguide have revised the synopsis for the final week of the current format of new Thomas & Friends episodes.

With no confirmation as of yet to Roll Along Thomas on a future showing of the missing The Christmas Express story, more characters will appear in the last set of Season Sixteen.

Emily, Edward and Percy join the first, Victor in the second and Salty and Edward again in the last. The 2012 run sees the fate of Sharon Miller's writing control and Nitrogen Studios' visual work being brought to an end.

The third is revealed to bring the returns of more of the Narrow Guage Engines. Starring with Peter Sam and The Thin Controller are Skarloey, Sir Handel and even Duncan.

However, fans must be prepared to realise that Duncan's possible reintroduction to the series may not be guaranteed an imminent response. The rest as told a few days back, reunite in the Blue Mountain Mystery special.
Whiff's Wish

Whiff would so like to be as fast, strong and loud as Spencer. He thinks he is a very grand engine indeed. But Whiff's dreams lead to his undoing.

A spur-of-the-moment decision not to pick up rubbish trucks but help Emily and Edward instead results in a collision with Percy! Feeling very silly, Whiff goes back to his old job.

After all, being a really useful engine is just as grand in its way as sleek, snooty Spencer.

Welcome Stafford

There's a buzz of excitement on Sodor today. Stafford, the new shunting engine, is in the Steamworks! He's electric and runs on batteries, so everyone wants to meet him.

Spencer sets off to show him round the Island, smugly ignoring Victor's warning that Stafford's batteries could run out.

It serves him right when he proudly announces their arrival at various locations and Stafford is not with him! But Stafford's batteries are fully charged when it's his turn to help Spencer out of a pickle.

Don't Bother Victor!

The Thin Controller is off to a meeting and leaves Peter Sam in charge of the narrow gauge railway for the very first time.

Before he goes, he tells him not to bother Victor with anything trivial when he arrives to make his weekly repair visit.

So when Sir Handel starts creaking and croaking, Skarloey's funnel belches black smoke and Duncan's rods rattle, Peter Sam tries to fix all the engines himself and makes them even worse.

So Peter Sam has to bother Victor after all, especially as he himself has run out of coal!

Happy Birthday, Sir!

Thomas is to take Winston, the new track inspection vehicle, out on all his jobs today. Their first port of call is the docks, where Salty and Edward tell them it's the Fat Controller's birthday.

Winston is impressed to hear that, when he was a boy, he used to ride in an open-top carriage, handing out birthday cake to the people of Sodor.

On the rest of their tasks Winston lags behind Thomas, looking for that open-top carriage. What a wonderful present it will make once it's restored!

  1. Glad Duncan's coming back to be honest. After all he IS one of the original NG engines. Couldn't really care less about Freddie and Mighty Mac.

These plots sound...interesting. Especially "Happy Birthday, Sir!" that has great potential, they'll probably find a way to ruin it though :L

  2. To me, 'Whiff's Wish' sounds like a rewrite of Season 11's 'Dream On'. But anyway, it's nice to see Duncan getting a comeback and the plots do sound good and better see how they turned out.

As for 'The Christmas Express' I have an email from ABC2 saying that the episode has been postponed until Christmas as ABC Kids have advised, generally, that any episode that contains a Christmas theme is postponed until Christmas. So it can be a bit of a wait.

  4. Well, even if Duncan doesn't return in Blue Mountain Mystery, I'm at least glad he's not being left out completely of the CGI series. Looking forward to seeing how he looks in CGI. :)

  5. Duncan didn't appear at all in the episode. It was just mentioned that he'd broken down.
